Intro to Acting
Zach Campbell, Instructor
This six-week class will serve as an intro to the craft of acting. Actors will be introduced to building a character, vocal and physical warm-ups, how to study a script, scene work, and monologue work. This class will help lay the groundwork for those who have always wanted to try acting as well as those who are interested in pursuing acting as a career. Come prepared to work, have fun, and grow in a supportive, friendly, environment.
Originally from the “Rust Belt” of Ohio, Zachary began his theater studies in 2006 while attending Youngstown State University located in Youngstown, Ohio. At YSU, Zachary spent his time on and off stage in a variety of roles. In 2010, Zachary directed the YSU Theatre’s production of The Shape of Things. Zachary found a love for teaching while serving as a teaching assistant for the stage combat and acting courses. He also attended commedia dell’arte workshops led by Mr. Gayle McNeely and received dialect coaching from Mr. Paul Meier.
After graduating in May 2010 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater, Zachary moved to Orlando, Florida where he worked for the Walt Disney World Resort for a little more than five years. While at Disney, Zachary worked primarily for the Entertainment Department including two years as an Entertainment Manager. Zachary also spent time with the Learning and Development Team, training new Disney Cast Members.
Zachary is currently a graduate student at the University of Colorado Boulder with a focus in Shakespeare. This past spring, Zachary served as the assistant director under Kevin Rich for CU’s production of The Comedy of Errors and in Spring 2019 will be directing Almost, Maine as part of CU’s 2018/2019 season.
